Early Years & Primary School Events

The Early Years & Primary School has a focus on guiding students to understand the world outside of school.

The Primary School has a focus on guiding students to understand the world outside of school. This includes knowing what attractions are in their local town as well as visiting attractions within close proximity to Ballarat. Students participate in train travel to Melbourne, visit the Melbourne Aquarium and get up close and personal with animals at the Werribee Zoo.

To link these excursions to the curriculum, students focus on content that is relevant to the excursion they will participate in, allowing for connections to be made between the curriculum, classroom work and real life experiences.

As students progress through the Primary School, they are given the opportunity to participate in overnight camps within Ballarat and its surroundings. Here, students will engage in team building activities as well as having new experiences such as adventure bush walking, rock climbing, orienteering and camp cooking.

As well as the major excursions listed above, students are involved in the extra-curricular activities such as swimming at the YMCA, SEDA sports clinic, classroom weekly cooking programs and regular community access visits within the community. Students enjoy participating in a variety of events and celebrations throughout the year including footy dress up day, pyjama day, book week, Mother’s and Father’s Day events, school concert and culminating the year with Christmas lunch at the Farm.

To celebrate our grade 6 students reaching an important milestone in their schooling, they are given the opportunity to purchase specially designed grade 6 t-shirts. Students finish off their time in the Primary School with a Grade 6 graduation assembly and disco.
