Senior School - VET

Our school's mission is "Achieving Personal Success Together."

VET

VET (Vocational Education and Training) is a form of applied learning that provides students with the workplace skills and knowledge required to work in specific industries. VET programs are developed in consultation with industry and offer a nationally recognised qualification. They allow students to work towards qualifications for all types of employment, and gain sector-specific skills to help them in the workplace. Undertaking VET while at school allows students to mix general and vocational education and to make a start on training for a career before they leave school. Students will gain VET credit into the VPC as each 90 nominal hours worth of completed UoCs (Units of Competencies) from a Certificate I qualification or above will provide one credit towards the VPC. Students can also study VET through school-based apprenticeships or traineeships (SBATs) or part-time apprenticeships and traineeships. In government schools, all SBATs are supported by the Head Start program. At BSS, we also support SBATs through South West TAFE and West Vic Staffing Solutions through our internal Horticulture Program.
